My Simple Terms of Service

Hi there! This document isn't meant to be scary or full of confusing legal jargon. It's a simple, plain-English agreement to make sure we're both on the same page and that our project runs smoothly from start to finish.

When you ("You", "the Client") pay your first deposit, you are agreeing to these simple terms with me, Ria ("Me", "I", "Design by Ria").

1. What I Promise to Do​

  • I will build your website as described in your chosen package and our clear, written proposal.

  • I will communicate with you professionally, keep you updated, and always speak plain English.

  • I will provide one-to-one training to show you how to use the simple Wix editor to update your site.

  • I will respect the confidentiality of any information you share with me.

2. What I Need From You (Your Responsibilities)

  • Content (Text & Images): You must provide all the final text and images for your website. I am a designer, not a copywriter or photographer.

  • The 'Website in a Week' Rule: For this fast-track package, all your text and images must be ready before our 7-day sprint begins. If they are not, we will need to move your project to the 'Starter' package timeline.

  • Wix Account & Fees: You are responsible for setting up and paying for your own Wix Premium Plan and your domain name (e.g., yourbusiness.co.uk). These are paid directly to Wix (I'll guide you on how to do it).

  • Timely Feedback: I'll need you to provide feedback and approvals in a timely manner. If I don't hear from you for more than 30 days, I'll have to pause your project.

3. How Payments Work

  • Deposit: I require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your spot in my schedule. This deposit tells me you are serious and protects my time.

  • Final Payment: The final 50% payment is due upon my completion of the website.

  • Handover: Once the final payment is received, I will transfer full ownership of the Wix website to you. The site cannot "go live" or be transferred until the final payment is made.

  • 'Peace of Mind' Plan: This is an optional monthly subscription, billed at the start of each month. You can cancel anytime (with 30 days' notice).

4. Refunds & Cancellation

  • My 50% deposit is non-refundable. This is because it books my time in my schedule, which I have then turned away from other projects.

  • If you wish to cancel part-way through, you won't have to pay the final 50%, but your deposit will not be refunded.

  • Once the website is finished and the final payment is made, no refunds are available as the work has been completed and delivered.

  • In the very unlikely event that I cannot complete your project due to unforeseen circumstances, I will refund any payments for work that has not yet been completed.

5. What's Included (and What's Not)

  • What's Included: The 5 pages we've agreed on (e.g., Home, About, Services, Gallery, Contact) and the features listed in your package.

  • Revisions: My packages include two full rounds of revisions to the design. Any further revisions will be quoted for separately.

  • What's Not Included: My packages do not include logo design, branding, copywriting (writing your text), or complex e-commerce (online shop) setup. These can be discussed and quoted for as separate services.

6. After Your Site is Live

  • Once I hand over the site to you, you have full control and ownership.

  • I will provide one 1-to-1 training session to show you how to use Wix. After that, I am not responsible for any changes or "breaks" you make to the site, unless you are signed up for my 'Peace of Mind' plan.

  • I reserve the right to include your finished website in my online portfolio.

A Few Final Details

  • Liability: I am not liable for any loss of business or income related to your website. Wix is a third-party platform, and I am not responsible for any issues related to their service (e.g., server downtime).

  • Governing Law: This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
